Knitted Knockers

It's been a long while since I've personally received a request for a pair of knitted knockers. The request came as I was finishing school work with my kiddos for the day, and as I have came close to finishing a few projects on my needles and I began contemplating what to cast on next. It was a sweet surprise to see the request in my messages.

I began going through my stash and found my pile of knitted knockers yarn. A few of the kids started asking what I was starting and why. The boys were all pretty young when I last worked on the knockers and couldn't remember. After discussing the purpose, generosity, comfort the knockers provide for many women.

They each chose a color and asked that I make a few more knockers to donate and to start making them more often. I love sharing such simple acts of kindness with my children. It's about what you can do for others that truly speaks volumes as to the person that you are.

I am so amazed at how well these knitted knockers turned out. My best pair that I have made to date. It's simple acts of kindness like this that I sit back and see how far I've come in my skills for both knitting and crochet. To think my mom suggested I knit and crochet because of my junior arthritis in middle school. The hours I spent in class making crochet chains that reached for miles just to rip out and start again. Then to teach myself to knit as a lefty, I am so proud that I stuck with it. Now to see my skills helping another and making life more comfortable, and show some compassion in another's life as they brace new horizons. I've found my calling to be a sunflower, to share my light.
